About Sweden E-Invoicing

Sweden introduced mandatory B2G e-invoicing for state authorities in 2008, predating the EU directive. The Svefaktura format (a Swedish XML standard) was the initial vehicle. Sweden later adopted Peppol BIS 3.0 as its exchange standard for public procurement. All Swedish public entities are reachable via Peppol, and the ecosystem now supports both SVEFAKTURA and Peppol BIS 3.0. B2B e-invoicing remains market-driven and voluntary, with high adoption in large enterprises.
